Made in Chennai in 2018, these are pictures of cinema posters from the 1960s and 70s photographed in the presence of the passersby. I wanted to state the historical connection of Chennai with the movie Industry, its passing history, and the city’s national connections. I leave the posters to talk themselves about the visual style and the sensibilities of their age, the iconography, calligraphy, the colour perceptions and their ever-present connections with the community. It is also about looking back to a glorious age of fame, limelight, publicity, and the idea of entertainment through the visual cues that are as contemporary as it is antique.
