Every city speaks with its own language. Its words are the cultural, social, and political symbols that lie scattered, waiting for a concerned viewer to experience and a practical photographer to capture. In a first-hand manner, the artist experiences this conversation which has been spoken on the streets since ancient times. Often hidden from the viewer, often in plain sight, the lights, sounds and smells of the city are captured by the camera.
Photographed in Mumbai during a short visit in 2015, these photographs are the first images of long term documentary of the social, political and religious symbolism I found throughout many city-walks. They may be specific to Mumbai but understood in all of Indian culture.
